Self esteem begins with loving who you are, accepting who you are, and appreciating your strengths. You’ll never have good self-esteem until you can appreciate and accept who you are.
To quote Buddha: “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
To quote Mark Twain: “A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.” Ask yourself this simple, yet powerful question:
Do I love myself?
If the answer is, “No,” that needs to change. Today.
You absolutely MUST approve of yourself if you want to be comfortable. It doesn’t matter what others think, it matters what YOU think about you.
So let’s start by taking time to really appreciate yourself, as this really is the basic foundation of healthy self- esteem.
Find a piece of paper and start by writing down TEN things you really appreciate about yourself. Just the first things that come to your mind about what you appreciate about yourself, it doesn’t need to be overcomplicated.
● Are you good at excel?
● Are you a creative cook?
● Do you have a fun sense of humor?
● Do you get on welfare with children?
● Are you good at saving or do you manage your finances well?
● Are you a reliable friend?
You MUST come up with at least ten things you like about yourself. No shortcuts! If you are able to come up with more than 10, then keep going!
After you’re done, take the sheet of paper and tape it somewhere you’ll see it a LOT. You want this to be in front of you on a regular basis.
Remember, you’re valuable and should love yourself. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
Okay, now it’s time for you to get busy.
After you have written down the ten things that you absolutely love about yourself, try and share at least ONE of those things the comments below. Come on, don’t be shy!
